Spring 2016 One Room Challenge-Design Plans
April 13, 2016
Oh happy day! Welcome to week 2 of the Spring 2016 One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling it Home. Thank you for stopping by and visiting, I hope that can be source of inspiration to you.
I have spent this past week building out the most challenging part of this makeover. I am a bit exhausted from it all but I plan to share my progress via social media and I will cover this project next week. Last week, I shared my inspiration photos of what I am looking for. This week I plan to share my official plans.
Abstract Art I // Abstract Art II // Photo print Art // Swivel Chair // Rug // Plates // Swan PrintI have spent this past week building out the most challenging part of this makeover. I am a bit exhausted from it all but I plan to share my progress via social media and I will cover this project next week. Last week, I shared my inspiration photos of what I am looking for. This week I plan to share my official plans.
I kind of held back on you last week. I did not want to give too much away and I was still unsure of so many things. I recently made a pretty large unexpected purchase at the thrift store. I plan to use that purchase in this room. I thought I knew where all the art would be hung, but now I am just as clueless as the next person. I think this challenge will be more of a shoot and go. Although, this is the official plans, everything is still up in the air in regards to layout. The color scheme that I "plan" to work with is burgundy, dusty blush color, black and white. I live in a rental so there will be NO permanent changes.
The fireplace will change---GAME CHANGER...Question is, How exactly do I plan to update a RENTAL fireplace? Stay tune, I plan to share with you exactly how I plan to do this next week. This space is actually larger than what it appears in the photo. The retro gold blinds will stay but will be covered with a full wall of curtains. However, I thought about replacing them, but due to the odd layout I have no other choice but to cover them. What you do not see in this picture is the wall on the right is approximately 5' shorter in width than the wall across from it, it also has a cutout on the top. There is also a sliding door located approximately 3' away from the window shown. Sidenote, the wall with the sliding door is also where the cable cord is located....BUMMER!
The eating area will get a small makeover. I really do not want to crowd this space and the maximalist that I am will have to hold back and keep this area simple. I am still debating on adding curtains to this area or switching out the blinds to wooden blinds or white blinds. I love the light that comes through in this back room and with a full wall of curtains in the family room, I do not want to cover up the beauty that I am surrounded by.

ReplyDeleteExcited to see what you do with the fireplace! Always a little more challenging when you can't make permanent changes. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do amazing things!
ReplyDeleteI am SO curious about what are you going to do with that fireplace. Upgrade it in a rental place... can we skip a week so I can read that post right now!!! Obviously, painting it might be a solution but you can't do that!
ReplyDeleteAlso, for my room, I will follow your advice and do floating shelves instead of a book case... thanks for the help!
So exciting Jess! That's the joy of design sometimes, right? Figuring it out as you go along. Can't wait to see the space come together!
