Living Room Update
August 31, 2015
Happy Monday!
I promised you guys that I was going to reveal my living room with you. However, I chose to keep this to an update because it is not quite finished. You can tell by looking at the pictures below that there is some work that still needs to be done...AND I am still missing a coffee table.
In the upper left hand corner I added some prints that I already have in the adjoining room or that I would love to add to the space. The lower level of my home is pretty much open, except for the kitchen, and trying to make the space cohesive while staying true to who I am can be a bit challenging...because I love almost everything and I collect a lot of different things. I plan on switching up my throw pillows...I have just been extremely lazy to sew them. I know...I need to get the ball rolling, but pretty much this is the basis of the room.
I really would love to incorporate this fabric into my "office" space which is located on the opposite side of the living room right in front of the sliding door---where my pink couch used to be located. This area is "still" a part of the living room but we do not use it for that purpose. I will talk about this area in a later post. Anyways, since my office is located somewhat in the living room, I would love for this space to be cohesive and compliment the living room....Honestly, I just need this fabric in my life. HAHA!
WORK...I know...I will point it out....the table to the left needs work. I like the original stain, BUT it needs work and half of this table is wood and the (faux) drawer is laminate....So at this moment, I am stump. I do not want to paint it, I would love to stain it, but I have not figured out what to do with the laminate part. See my dilemma? Any thoughts?

If you have any suggestions on what I should do with this vintage sewing desk turned side table, please let me know....I would REALLY appreciate it!
Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT day!

Wow, this space looks so fancy, and that fabric is really unique, so I hope you figure out a way to use it! I don't have any ideas on what you can do with that piece of furniture, but I'm sure there is something you can do with it, to perk it up!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The mister is not on board with my fabric selection...so we will see.
DeleteYou have wonderful style! I love those pictures above your couch they are amazing! I shared this and pinned it. Can't wait to see it all finished! I also have my office in the living room. It has it's good and bad points, but it's the only place available! Great piece!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI just love your style! And I so wish we were closer so we could thrift and DIY together! I could learn lots from you! And I can't believe your space is a RENTAL! It's such an inspiration because I think so many people who are renting think they can't really customize their space to them...but you've clearly proven that wrong!!! So fab! xox
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! It would be cool to live near you...you can teach me how to cook and we can DIY together!

ReplyDeleteLooks so great! That couch is amazing. I could see that table in a glossy white or black with some gold fixtures. Just an idea!
ReplyDeleteI like your style! I will put that in my jar of ideas.

ReplyDeleteIt looks really great! Loved the furniture and decor. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this space Jess! And what about constructing a new drawer front and then staining the whole thing one cohesive color... too much work?
ReplyDeleteThanks Justine for the idea. I am so lazy, I do not know if constructing s new drawer front would be something I am up for at the moment.
DeleteOh my goodness the giant black and white prints are wonderful! Nice work!

DeleteLove your space, the colors, the style, everything is fab!
ReplyDeleteYour comment about taking forever to sew your pillows made me laugh. I bought fabric for curtains for our camper at the beginning of summer, and just started sewing them last night. Maybe they'll be ready for next year's camping trips! lol
ReplyDeletebtw, I love the black chair- it is gorgeous!
Haha! Yes...I always have all these ideas to sew sonething and then I take my sweet time doing so.
DeleteThanks and I would love to see the curtains for the camper! Lately dressing up campers have been a thing and I am always amazed at what ppl do with it.
DeleteThe couch is beautiful - great idea! :)

DeleteLove those b&w prints above your couch!
ReplyDeleteYou have done such a great job. I still can't get over the sofa. It is my favorite piece.
ReplyDeleteI am totally digging what's going on in this space. That couch is so killer. For the laminate part of the sewing table, I'd either paint it or maybe cover it in fabric? Like a decoupage? Maybe that will work. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! And after going WAY too long without one we finally got a coffee table last month...and it feels great!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is super pretty. I love the photos. Very nice, especially like everyone else has said the sofa. It's beautiful! - Jeanine
ReplyDeleteI love your style - always quirky but elegant as well! Great work!
ReplyDeleteYour couch is so perfect in this space! I have enjoyed watching its process.

Such an eclectic sense of style. I love it! I'm sure whatever you come up with for the sewing table would be ten times better than anything I'd come up with for it lol.
ReplyDeleteYou have amazing taste! I absolutely LOVE that black chair, such beautiful lines!
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is awesome! I agree it NEEDS to be in your life!
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage photo frames they add a kitsch touch to your living room.

ReplyDeleteThat is some awesome fabric! I love all the prints on your walls and all the gold leaf accents.
ReplyDeleteI love your choice of pillows against that wine-colored sofa. I just saw the 'before' picture, and I sooooo love that you changed couch colors…that pop of color in the room now really stands out.
ReplyDeleteLove your style! And I'm still missing a coffee table in my living room as well. I keep searching for what I want at a price that I can afford! It is out there - somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI never know anything about home decor! But I do LOVE the prints you have pulled together.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute space. I love the black and white prints above the sofa!
