It is the 5th Tuesday of the month and you know what that means....it is another...It's So Ugly, It's Cool challenge. Due to summer activities this months group will be small and I will be sharing some of my favorite #itssouglyitscool instagram photo shares. I decided to dedicate this challenge to my One Room Challenge coffee table. That table was a HOT MESS filled with spiders and bugs.

I found this table via craigslist a couple days before the reveal of the Spring 2016 One Room Challenge. The table was posted for $50, I offered them $35 but could not make it to pick up on the day that they suggested so they gave it to me for FREE. Weird, right? Anyhow, I am so happy they gave it to me for free, because it was in worst condition than what they advertised it for.

The previous owners had this table sitting out in the rain and spiders and all other types of bugs inhabited it. I had to bleach it out to kill them all. There was no way I was getting near this table with all of them alive....NO WAY! Truth be told, I have never had to deal with live spiders and eggs whenever I picked up a second hand item. This is the first for me.

Every single corner was chipped and needed to be repair. This was unbeknown to me until this table was in my presence.

I only thought the top of the table had damage and I just assumed it need a good wipe down....little did I know! Since it was free, I took it and spent 2 days fixing it up.

So how did I fix those chipped corners? Well, well, well....I used All purpose 3M BONDO --I have used other putty's in the past, but those did not adhere to the particle board so I needed something stronger and Bondo did just that. This stuff works fast and you need to use it fast and smooth it out (so sanding is easier) before it dries. I could not find my electric sander, so I sanded it all by hand. That is what took me the longest. Lesson learned, use an electric sander...it will cut the time in half.

Please use safety precaution when working...googles, gloves and mask needed!

1. Sand item
2. Follow directions on Bondo tag and mix bonds hardening agent well
3. Apply Bondo with a spatula and smooth out
4. After it hardens, sand it until it is smooth

Here is the finished product. This is a picture of the table sanded and primed. I spent day one Bondo-ing, sanding, and priming. Day 2 was designated to painting. I used Valspar Enamel White paint in  a gloss finish to top off this project.

This DIY feather lampshade from @Mepflug is so chic, trendy, and eclectic. If you are not following Mepflug via instagram, you should be...she has one of my favorite instagram accounts out there and she and her partner is talented beyond belief.

I am in love with this hollywood regency faux bamboo dresser makeover form @Cate_stylemutthome. The finish color of the dresser reminds me of my master bedroom bathroom makeover. #dreamy

This should not come as a shocker, but I absolutely love what @MaggieOverbyStudios did with these campaign dresser makeovers. You will have to stop by her site to get the full deets...Oh and she shared a summer home tour with us this past Memorial day and her home is GORGEOUS.....did I mention she also host the #thriftscorethursday challenge. #loveit
