Happy Friday! It has been a long week over here at Domicile 37. The kids finally returned back to their regular scheduled program....I do not know what that snow did to them, but I found this week challenging than most. I guess that is parenthood. On another note, I have basically completed the dining room for the New Year, New Room Refresh, I am still waiting on the curtains, but besides that...it is done. I will be sharing what I have this upcoming Tuesday.

While decorating the dining room and adding the finishing touches with mixes of old and new knick knacks, I was reminded of the Secret Santa Thrift Store Gift that Sara from Shabby Grace blog gifted me back in December. The challenge with the thrift store item was to revamp it, but as I was contemplating on what to do with it, my gut told me to leave it as is.

Normally when I pick up thrifted items, I have a tendency to fix it up, clean it, or repurpose/upcycle it. with this I just could not. Upon further investigation, I discovered that this type of round box is called a "cheese box." By the name, I assume it was used to store cheese. Boxes like these are typically vintage, HOWEVER, I am unaware of the age of this box. With that being said, this box is in really GREAT condition. In fact when I first received this box, I was a little taken back, I think I even cried...One because Sara is so sweet and two because it was so beautiful. The floral print is really not me, but I do not mind keeping things in its original state for historical value.

I really REALLY appreciate the fact that this "cheese box" was well taken care of. The stain selection is gorgeous and reminds me of furniture stain colors that you can find on most mid century pieces. I knew for a fact that I did not want to repaint this...why fix something that is not broken? So here I am turning a leaf on my eclectic edgy style to keep something pure....I do that sometimes, I just never know when.

Emily Henderson inspired thrifted cheese box

You know what...It did not hurt that Emily Henderson used a "cheese box" in her book Styled by Emily Henderson. I am not going to lie, but seeing her "cheese box" in the book had me giddy and feeling special....like we had some sort of connection. I know I sound a bit cheesy, but seriously, that is what happened.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have an awesome Friday and please stop by my buddies pages to see how they revamped their Secret Santa thrift store gift.
