One Room Challenge 2015: The Big REVEAL

Hello all and happy Thursday! Thank you for all the love and comments. Sorry I have not responded to some of them, I have been extremely busy these past couple of weeks and I plan to get to them as soon as I have a little free time.

For those who are new, this week marks the third week of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling it Home. There are 20 bloggers who have been chosen to participate in this challenge and they debut their progress on Wednesdays with the BIG reveal on November 11. Myself, along with a plethora of other talented bloggers are linking up guest participants for this challenge and debut our progress every Thursday via linking up on Calling it Home. Our BIG reveal will be on Thursday, November 12th.

Last week I accomplished a lot, but before I get into that...I need to make a correction, I kept saying "suede" when in actuality it is a leather-esque type material. It is not real leather, but then it is NOT pleather...I have not quite figured it out.

I wanted to share my a sample of my curtain with you and the fabric used for my headboard. The color palette for this room was inspired by my curtains...hence the red (wine colored) rug.

I painted the shelf black and it is so rad, I am beyond myself. I normally do not paint metal by hand, but I had no other option due to weather. I hope I never have to do it again. Haha! This is just a teaser image of one area of the room. I really cannot reveal too much or else there will not be much to show come November 12th. So far I am loving the way everything is coming together.

By week 5, I hope to have trim on my curtains, a starburst art piece and I hope and pray that I can figure out my lamp situation. I have some black lamps, but I have been eyeing some gold and copper lamps from Target.

One Room Challenge: Week 3

Hello all and happy Thursday! For those who are new, this week marks the third week of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling it Home. Myself, along with a plethora of other talented bloggers are linking up guest participants for this challenge and debut our progress every Thursday via linking up on Calling it Home. You can find week one's One Room Challenge post, here, and week two, here. Last week was a bit difficult for me to do much, but this week I got some stuff done. I hung up the black suede and my area rug from Lamps Plus arrived. I was so excited to receive it, I literally stopped what I was doing and started clearing out the room just so that I can get the rug in before night-fall. The rug is GORGEOUS!!!

This is how my headboard looks at this exact moment, I love the pattern, but I plan to reupholster it with powdered blue (with a hint of grey) fabric that I picked up at an interior designer yardsale. The black suede is used to add visual interest in the room...trust me the walls are a bit blah without it. Since I rent, I stapled the top and bottom and used double sided sticky tape to hold the sides down. What I love about the suede is that it has texture. I thought about using hardboard, but I did not want to do all that work to hold it up. You can check out my rental approved spruced up shutter doors turned chic doors using hardboard, here.

This upcoming week I hope to have all my projects completed. I still need to paint this shelf (pictured above), reupholster my headboard, create a starburst art piece of some sort, and possibly paint my existing mirror to fit the room**--I say possibly because I have my eyes set on a mirror that I would love to purchase, but I need to check if it is still there. hmmmm....Yeah, I did not plan that out.

One Room Challenge 2015: Week 2

Hello all and happy Thursday! For those who are new, this week marks the second week of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling it Home. There are 20 bloggers who have been chosen to participate in this challenge and they debut their progress on Wednesdays with the BIG reveal on November 11. Myself, along with a plethora of other talented bloggers are linking up guest participants for this challenge and debut our progress every Thursday via linking up on Calling it Home. Our BIG reveal will be on Thursday, November 12th. This is my first time participating in this challenge and I am loving all of the support I am receiving from my fellow bloggers and readers....Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart!

You can find week one's One Room Challenge post, here. Week 2 has been a little bit challenging because my kids are in their last week of Fall break and have been going crazy. So to keep them calm, we spent our days outside...basically, not much got completed. However, I did take down the fabric navy blue wall that posing as my accent wall. So, if you think about it...I did complete a task. Haha!

Although I actually did not get much done in project terms, I did receive my art work, decorative pillows, some decor pieces, and I purchased a butt load of suede fabric. This next week the kids will be back at school, I hope to have my wall treatment up and my headboard reupholstered. I have been debating on placing a shelf similar to the ones in my living room in my bedroom but I would spray paint it black. I have not made up my mind, but I do have the shelf and it should be an easy project. I am still waiting for my area rug to come in...That my friends is a surprise....I am hoping it looks exactly how is did online...or else. Fingers crossed.

A snapshot om black suede fabric that I purchased from Joann's --- I scored a HOT deal 50% off on a butt load of this...well worth my trip with my 3 kids in tow.

I know this is not much but how COOL is this rock. I picked it up at the thrift store for like $3, this would have at least cost 7x more at Home Goods. Great find! The cashier at the thrift store was so sweet but totally stumped to why I would want to purchase a rock. Cutest thing ever. On a side note, this thing is MASSIVE.

There are a couple things that I forgot to take a picture of that I plan to use in the space, I guess you will have to wait and see. Well, this wraps up my update for week 2 of the One Room Challenge. If you have time you should stop by Calling it Home and check out all the other participants progress! I bet they would love that!
