How To Add a Stem to a Dollar Store Pumpkin
September 11, 2015
Happy Friday!
As I was decorating my main living area for the upcoming fall season, I noticed how ugly the dollar store pumpkins are. I do not call a lot of things ugly, but for some reason I could not get past the stubby stem on top of the pumpkin...it bothered me CRAZY. Since it bothered me so much, I decided to do something about it.
Using newspaper and masking tape as my weapons of choice I decided that I would tackle this problem like if I were to make a form of some sort.
First, I wrapped the newspaper around my finger (not shown....it is kind of hard to take a picture of that). After I loosely wrapped it around my finger, I placed the wrapped newspaper on top of the stub, I mean stem, to get the measurement correct.
After I twisted the newspaper form I tapped all around it to stiffen it.
Once the form is completed feel free to paint/spray paint it to your desired color and adhere it with hot glue...OR adhere it to your unfinished project and spray paint pumpkin all at one time with DIY stem attached.

This is so clever! I never get dollar store pumpkins because I think they're so ugly, but this is such a simple DIY I might have to tackle it for my own holiday decorating. Thanks for sharing the tip!
