Happy Tuesday! I know for some of you (moms) Spring break has already begun. My kids were suppose to start theirs this week but had to makeup a couple of days from when we were snowed in. I am kind of happy about it though...I can finish the last couple of projects that I have lined up for this month without any distractions. LOL! Anyhow, if you are hopping on over from Pretty Practical Home, WELCOME! I  have linked up again with some of my favorite gals for the Knock it Off DIY challenge. This month we have been inspired to take on the one and only, WORLD MARKET! The piece I chose to makeover was a small recycled wood sconce candleholder. This candleholder comes in a set of two...but I only have one for you today. Hey, sometimes when you are thrifting, you do not have much success finding a pair.

I really did not spend that much money on this project...I spent less than $2. Which is great! You too can recreate a wood sconce candleholder similar to this by visiting the thrift store and finding a candle holder similar and using scrap wood. For the most part I had everything but the sconce. Since I did not have reclaimed wood (or anything similar to the inspiration piece) I used CeCe Caldwell's Walnut Grove stain. I am not going to go off about the stain, but guys...this stuff is AWESOME and non-toxic---It is literally AH-mazing! I love the Walnut Grove finish and I knew that it would work great against my thrifted silver sconce.

So how did I create this magnificent sconce....it is honestly quite easy and it only takes like 5 minutes.

Note: Make sure your wooden base is large enough to hold your sconce.

1. After I stained my wood base and let it dry. I drilled four EXTRA small holes (I used my drill) near the vertical center of the candleholder (look below) and used looped my wire through them.

2. Then I used liquid nails to secure it even more (this candleholder is super light) and I let it dry.

Confession: I spent my weekend working on projects and dealing with sick kids, I did not have it in me to run to the store to pick up anything fancy to secure this. lol. So I used what I had on hand.

Please note, depending on weight and shape of your candle holder you can either use E6000, liquid nails, or maybe even screw it down for maximum security.

You can see from the above pic where I used wire to hold the candleholder down. I have already gone and painted over the wire, but I wanted to make sure that you knew my technique.
