Happy Tuesday everyone! As I settle into my new rental I am finding myself exploring different design styles that are closer to what I pin on Pinterest. This new rental I believe will allow me to explore design a little bit more further than my last rental and allow me to let loose and layer more since there is more space and light. My hopes are to create spaces that feel homey with an eclectic balance of what I like.

Dining Room Moodboard for the New Year, New Room Refresh 2016

The first room I plan on tackling is the formal dining room. It is the smallest room in the house; it has hardwood floors throughout, a cut out on one wall, 2 door openings, and 2 windows---there is a lot going on for such a small room, so there will be some challenges. I created a moodboard of what I HOPE the room will look like once I am finished with it....we will see. I have all of the large pieces and most of the home decor, but I still need to get the curtains, area rug, and chairs. This week my goal is for me to unpack all my art so I can get a better sense of scale.

This is NOT the best picture, but here is the room. You can see the wall cut out in this picture...it is not bad nor does it bother me but all of the walls in this room are different heights do to the ceiling slopping. I am still trying to figure out how I want to configure my art and if I want to do a gallery wall or just keep it simple. Sometimes, I can go overboard. Overall, this is a great room to start with in this house. This room will be lay the groundwork for the rest of the house.
I am excited for this new house and for this New Year, New Room Refresh hosted by Stephanie from Casa Watkins. I introduced this challenge a couple of weeks ago and I will be teaming up with some of my favorite ladies to kick off the start of the new year. Be sure you stop by my home girls sites to see what room they are refreshing and what plans they have set for their space.

  2. I love what you say about exploring new design styles. Since you're fresh off the move it seems like the perfect time. I am drooling over your mood board. SO glam! Are you going to use the couch for seating at the table? I absolutely love that look. I see how the wall cut-out presents a little bit of a challenge, but overall I think it's a neat feature. Can't wait to see how everything comes together!

    1. Thank you Brittany! I will be using a vintage couch as seating. I had the couch in my old place and used it in the eating area...I love it! I am really excited for this challenge and I cannot wait to see what everyone is doing.
