Happy Friday! This past month I was asked to be a guest judge for The Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest hosted by Evey from Evey's Creation, Stacy from Anastasia Vintage, Charlotte from Ciburbanity, Lynn from Fern Avenue, and Carrie from Thirty Eighth Street. This month the contestants were asked to makeover a piece of furniture incorporating geometric shapes into the piece. Every month the contest is sponsored by a brand, this month the sponsor was General Finish.

September 2015 favorites and winner

Since I am the guest judge, I had the pleasure at checking out ALL of the contestants pieces, and pick a few favorites...and trust me, there were a lot of good pieces to pick from. I was able to narrow my choices down to these three.

I have been a HUGE fan of Colleen from 58 Water Street. I love her work and all her unique pieces. She is definitely a girl full of talent. What I love about her piece is how she took a simple design and used it on a small portion of her desk top and then she took it to another level and used her Nate Berkus monochromatic geometric fabric on the bench and little fox handles as knobs for her dresser.

Now, this dresser by Somewhat Quirky hit a sweet spot for me...It is absolutely gorgeous and something that I would put in my house. I love how she took a piece that has been in her family and made it into something new. The color selection fits the piece perfectly with just the right amount of POP. I love everything about this project and the story behind the piece.

Can you believe that this piece was created from scratch? Christina from Let's Get Crafty and her husband built this piece using reworking Ana White's plans on her West Elm Daybed hack. Instead of making her own daybed, she made a bench to sit at the end of her bed. What I appreciate about this piece is how versatile, classic, and trendy it is.

I shared with you my favorites from the Fab Furniture Flippin' contest, now here is the WINNER.

This was the first geometric, straight lined piece that Lilac Shack Furniture created. I love the style of the Mid Century Modern piece. She did a great job at making this her own and incorporating the whole geometric theme. I love the angle she went for in staging the piece and I can definitely see this piece in child's room... it is fun, whimsical, and edgy. Congrats Kara on your BIG win!

Every month there is a new sponsor, new theme, new challenge...Get inspired and get painting!
