Happy Tuesday!

I teased y'all last week with a snapshot of my Halloween tablescape. Today, I am going to reveal my Halloween table setting and a little video tutorial of how I put my table together. I do not know if I made it known....but I LOVE HALLOWEEN! It is my absolute favorite holiday. My favorite type of Halloween decor or setup is Macabre style...I do not really do the whole orange and black theme. I also feel that the Macabre style suites my personality and my home decor style as well. Very sinister, eh? Muahahahaha >>>(that is my scary Halloweenish laugh).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Macabre, according to wikipedia (Haha) it is the quality of having a grim or ghastly atmosphere and emphasizes symbols of death. Before I go any further, I would like to state that this is type of Halloween style that I personally like...It has nothing to do with my character or my beliefs.

I created a short photo video of how I put my tablescape together. Before we get into that, here is the breakdown of what the table entails: Everything on the table except for the glassware and skeleton hands were stashed away in my Halloween bin. I purchased the glassware at the thrift store for a total of $5.50---YES, YES, YES you read that right---and I purchased the skeleton hands from Michael's craft store; they were half off plus and extra percentage off of my total purchase. I used a sheer lace wide curtain panel as my table cloth, another cream colored lace panel spray painted black on top of the sheer curtain. The floral arrangement was from my sister's high school graduation...yes, I spray painted it black (2 years ago---for a more gothic look). To create a raven's nest in the middle of the table, I used black tulle and dollar store ravens, snakes, bats, and spiders. I also used small fake flowers painted black. You probably cannot see all the detail, but it is there. The teal chargers (originally purchased from Michael's Clearance rack) and black plates I already owned (originally purchased from the thrift store).

The video shows exactly how I put most to all of my tables together starting with the tablecloth and ending with the decorative element that will sit on top of the desert plate. When decorating, I try not to limit my resources. Here are some tips to take home: shop your home, stick to a budget, and it is okay to use items that are not typically used for certain scenarios (i.e. my makeshift table cloth is really curtain panels). If all else fails, spray paint goes a LONG way. Do you and don't worry about what others think.

Above is a picture taken at night! I know shame on me...Yes, I did just do that...but on the bright side, no flash was used.

This picture was taken during the day, natural light and lit candles.

Stay tune for TOMORROW's post when I share with you what I used to fill my skeleton hands. Man, I love this tablescape.

Before you go, Please enlighten me with your thoughts on Macabre...Love it or Hate it?

  1. Oh my gosh! That's fantastic. I don't think I could put that together on my own, just not that clever, so I really appreciate the tutorial. I have a bay window that needs some Halloween decor.
