Thrift Score Thursday
June 11, 2015
Happy Thursday All! Guess what???....I am guest hosting...(Look below)
Yep, you read right....I am guest hosting Thrift Score Thursday along side some of my absolute favorite bloggers. If this is your first time hearing about the #thriftscorethursday hashtag party, I would like to say "Welcome!" The way this hashtag party works is basically all you have to do is share your thrifty finds (from garage sales, Craigslist, flea markets, thrift stores, etc...) throughout the week on Instagram and tag them #thriftscrorethursday. Then on Thursdays Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from For My Love Of, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, and a guest host will share their favorite thrift scores on their blog. Yep, #thriftscorethursday is the name of the game and that is how the game is played, no linking up necessary.
If you feel overwhelmed with a piece due to its flaws, the #thriftscorethursday hashtag party has a sister link...#dearTST. For advice on how to repurpose a piece, tag your #thriftscorethursday find with #dearTST to let the Thrift Score Thursday hosts know you are looking for advice. It is as simple as that, then they will get back to you via instagram or email and sometimes they may share #dearTST entries on their Thrift Score Thursday post.
***Now to my favorite thrifty finds...well, I liked them all, but I could only pick three--
There is something about antique pieces that just leaves me drooling. This dresser from Little Home Reloved had me swooning. I mean it is absolutely beautiful and it looks pretty original which I LOVE! I am so happy that they did not paint this piece. I have to admit, it was not only this piece that got me...it was the WHOLE room. Sorry to change the topic, but look at the surrounding area....It has this charming chic feel to it. >>>Which I LOVE, come on now...this room is so hip it is cool.
I am pretty sure, I have made my brass madness known...if not, I want to proclaim..."I am totally down with the brass!" Suite 22 Antiques found this 9 pound, 13 inch tall horse head which I am so intrigued by. You just do not find brass horse heads now a days...I mean, I have seen wooden ones and chrome ones, but never a brass one. I think what I like most about this piece is that it has that traditional style to it and that it is heavy and not brass plated. It is gorgeous and I could only imagine it gracing the shelves of somebody's library.
If only I could find a bamboo Hollywood Regency dresser...it would complete my dresser fetish. The Weathered Door scored a Thomasville Allegro faux bamboo dresser and is currently debating on paint colors. Oh, if only...I know this is not #dearTST but if this was mine...I would paint it black and spray paint the hardware gold...oh yes, yes I would!
Now...for my thrifty find...A red cranberry couch. Not vintage, which sucks, but it is a reproduction and a beautiful one if I may say so myself. I am kind of embarrassed to say how I acquired this piece, but since we are all thrifty to some degree, I will let you in on the scoop. I got this for free from a young family who was literally moving the next day. I think they may have tried to sell it for a profit and just could not sell it in time and offered it for free...that is my guess, I see this scenario happen a lot, so I would not be shocked. They had a lot of other vintage items listed for free that I missed out on, but I am happy this 7 foot long couch was still available hours after it was posted.
Don't forget to stop by and check out the finds and features from Brynne, Cassie, Corinna & Trisha. Love it...Love you and a BIG thanks to my blogging buddies, Brynne, Cassie, Corinna, and Trisha for allowing me to guest host this week!

Your new couch is a great color and it looks like it is in good condition. You can't beat free!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Little Home Reloved didn't paint that dresser. I like its old finish.

DeleteOMGosh! I LOVE this idea! And I have the PERFECT thrift find that I will post later. I actually saw someone post recently about their new West Elm brass/glass boxes and I was like...WHAT?! I just bought the same one from a thrift store for $3!!! So awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in this week. This is one of my favorite # party and a good way to meet new friends. I love that you shared your thrifted West Elm bobby-pin holder it is so trendy and for that price...oh yay!
DeleteDoesn't always have to be vintage to be beautiful. That color is absolutely stunning! So glad you were able to scoop the beauty up before anyone else (and before it ended up in the landfill). Thank you for hosting with us, stop back in anytime!!
ReplyDeletethanks Trisha for stopping by. I had so much fun and yes I do know...not everything has to be vintage to beautiful. Thank you for your sweet words!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Cassie! Yes, that dresser is everything...It is beautiful! Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to guest hosting next month!
DeleteNeat Finds! I have a question, do you revamp your find or leave them as is?
ReplyDeleteThank you. I do revamp some of my finds, but not all...It all depends on how badly damaged it is. I plan on doing a little something-something to the couch...but we will see.
DeleteI love your new couch. Major score! I was thinking the same thing for the yellow dresser! It'll be beautiful no matter what they decide.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really would love a faux bamboo dresser so bad...I think I was a little jealous, in a good way.
DeleteLove seeing what people pick up when thrifting! That yellow dresser is awesome!
ReplyDeleteyes, I love to see what other people pick up...sometimes I hope that I would find something just as awesome for a really cheap price---sometimes I do, sometimes I do not, it all depends on the area.
DeleteLOVE IT ALL!!!!! Great finds!!!! I need to hit up thrift stores again.

ReplyDeletethanks Natalie!
DeleteI love that sofa - the bold color and those lines are a fantastic combination! I can't wait to see more of it! Thanks so much for guest hosting with us this week, Jess!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brynne. I plan to do a post on it. It has a loose button and one missing button but besides that it is in good condition. However, I do want to remove the dust ruffle. I have done it before on another couch, but this one was not attached the same way, so I am kind of stumped at the moment. Also, I am debating on changing the legs. I am not sure yet. Thanks Brynne for creating such a fun hashtag party!
DeleteI love this! I love finding things and making them gorgeous again!!
